Asus Ul30a-x4 Thin and Light 13.3-inch Black Laptop - 12 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium) Review
When my macbook died, I went into the laptop market looking for something 0 or less. I'm a student, so I like a laptop I can take with me on the go, that's also good for movies, music, multitasking and writing on. I'd heard a lot of hype about netbooks, so I went to a local store and tried one out. Quickly realized they are way too small for me. They're great for people on the go, I suppose, but not my style. I did more research, a lot more, until I stumbled upon this guy.
Compared to a macbook you:
- spend -400 less.
- get at least 8 hours of battery life with moderate use.
- get 4gb of RAM, versus 2gb
- get a 320gb (or 500gb, depending on which version of this laptop you get) hard drive, vs. 60-120 for macbooks.
I miss a lot of things about Apple's OS, but there's a lot to like about Windows 7 too. It would be difficult to overstate the usefulness of being able to snap windows to the right and left side of the screen.
My main issue with this laptop is the touchpad. It often thinks I clicked when I didn't, and can be very sticky, oversensitive, and generally frustrating. Another complaint is the abundance of bloatware and unnecessary programs, though an hour or two of cleaning up the system fixed that.
It was difficult to get information about the many different versions of this laptop. I googled around and found some stuff on forums, but it'd be nice if Asus did a little more to make the differences clear.
